Dancer, choreographer and flamenco superstar Antonio ‘El Choro’ Molina was born in Huelva, Spain and has performed throughout Andalusia with numerous flamenco companies including those of Israel Galvan, Eva la Yerbabuena (Eva), Mercedes Ruiz and with Rafael Campallo at the Villamarta Theatre as part of the Jerez Flamenco Festival. On Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 6:30 pm at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica, California, ‘El Choro’ will be joined by three cantaores Jesús Corbacho (Huelva), Miguel Rosendo (Cádiz), and Ismael Fernández, (Sevilla) along with the captivating guitarist Juani de la Isla, (San Fernando, Cádiz). Also performing, acclaimed Barcelona-born flamenco dancer Sonia Olla, described by The New York Times as “a furnace of earthy sensuality.” The program will also include members of the distinguished Zermeño Dance Academy from Santa Barbara. More about Antonio ‘El Choro’ Molina
‘El Choro’ has collaborated with Rafael and Adela Campallo in the XIII Flamenco Bienal show Don Juan Flamenco which also toured in Israel, and with Leonor Leal in Leole. He has performed in the company of Manuela Carrasco’s Suspiro Flamenco at the Central Theatre in Seville and in Japan, and Kahlo, Kalo by Amador Rojas, with choreography by Rafael Estevez. Antonio was also featured dancer in Vaivenes with Javier Baron and has worked with Juana Amaya as a guest artist in Moron Baila. El Choro recent tours have included Vicente Amigo with his award-winning album Tierra, and with singer Miguel Poveda who debuted here in Los Angeles last month as part of the Los Angeles Flamenco Festival.
