Vida Flamenca is a group of producers, artists, instructors and ambassadors of Spanish and Flamenco arts who present an exciting array of flamenco artists from the traditional Gypsy roots to most recent Spanish dancers and musicians. In conjunction with the Office of Tourism of Spain in Los Angeles, will present direct from Andalucía, Spain the award-winning Flamenco singer Arcángel & Company in DESDE LA TIERRA on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 8:00pm at the Colburn School’s beautiful and acoustically superb 430-seat Zipper Concert Hall located in downtown Los Angeles. Arcángel & Company will arrive direct from their 2021 Latin Grammy© performance in Las Vegas. In addition to Arcángel the company includes the acclaimed dancer Macarena López, Guitarist and producer Francisco José Gómez, and Percussionist Lito Mánez. Desde La Tierra will run for 75-minutes without intermission.

Considered one of the most respected and innovative cantaores of the 21st century, Arcángel (given name: Francisco José Arcángel Ramos) has also composed original works of his own. His debut album won the Andalucia Joven Award and the Premio Nacional Flamenco Activo de Úbeda. Among his other awards, the first of which he won at age 10, Arcángel earn his first winning placement at the Palenque, en la Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla de 2002 and the El Premio Giraldillo as best cantaor. Following 2004’s La Calle Perdia and 2006’s Ropavieja, he appeared in Zambra 5.1, a stage show tribute to legendary flamenco star Manolo Caracol, before returning to the studio in 2011 for his fourth effort, Quijote de los Sueños. Macarena López is an award-winning dancer, a soloist with the magnificent companies of Estévez y Paños, and Flamenco Ballet de Andalucía receiving 1st Prize as soloist for her choreography En mi sentido; in the Certamen de Coreografía de Danza Española y Flamenco in Madrid. Francisco José Gómez has garnered accolades from important music critics for his album ‘ORIGEN’ positioning him as one of the best Flamenco guitarists in recent years. One of Spain’s elite Flamenco percussionists Lito Mánez has performed with numerous musicians including singer Esperanza Fernández in Poema del Cante Jondo (Poem of the Deep Cante) and on the latest recording of guitarist José Antonio Rodríguez’ McCadden Place.

Noted bailaor, Felipe Clivio, is recognized as one of today’s rising talents. A native of Chile, he began his dance studies under Antonio Canales, Rafael de Carmen, Rafael Campallo, and Jesús Carmona. Having professionally debuted in 2010, Mr. Clivio has performed with numerous companies in Spain, notably Maria Pages, and Javier Latorre. Mr. Clivio is currently on tour with the acclaimed Rafaela Carrasco Company in Ariadna.

Now in its 10th year, Vida Flamenca was founded by Flamenco critic, writer, graphic designer and web designer Beth Nesbitt. This essential and dedicated organization has continued to support the next generation of Spanish and Flamenco dance artists through live performance in intimate locations throughout Southern California and is “committed to the educational enrichment of all learners and embrace flamenco as the basis for enduring connections in our community and as a springboard for meaningful engagement.” Vida Flamenc press release.

Streets. Additional paid parking can also be found at Walt Disney Concert Hall and in Cal Plaza Parking
