INTENSIVE SCHEDULE

In-person and virtual – June 28-July 6, 2021 (no class July 4)  10am-2pm (PST)

Period 1: DIAVOLO Warm-up (45 minutes) – Preparing your body to be pushed beyond your physical limit and discovering your strengths.

Period 2: DIAVOLO Training (45 minutes) – Looking at your own environment like a playground, as a source, as an inspiration for creating movement. A relation and interaction between your body and your space.

Period 3: DIAVOLO Repertoire (30 minutes) – Participants will learn existing choreography from Part One of DIAVOLO’s show L.O.S.T [Losing Oneself Temporarily], CUBICLE (2015). Immerse yourself in the themes, qualities, and intricate movement sections of this original piece.

Period 4: DIAVOLO Creation (2 hours) – How do we prepare for tomorrow? How do we prepare dancers for a post-pandemic world? In today’s landscape, where we feel isolated living with the unfamiliar, we ask ourselves how do we have the strength to rise every morning? What makes us continue to believe in ourselves?

DIAVOLO stresses that this workshop will focus on the artists participating, on their aspiration and desires. Things are opening up following the past 15 months of the pandemic and the company believes that it is time to feel like an artist again. “Through DIAVOLO’s one-of-a-kind creative process, you will create the text that will become your script for movement. We will create solo work and group movement sections that support this unique time in our lives – DIAVOLO press release.”
