In addition to being the Artistic Director of LA Dance Moves, Nancy Paradis, is an artist, educator, and choreographer who began her career performing with the Washington Ballet, Richmond Ballet and Louisville Ballet Companies.  As a principal and soloist, she danced roles ranging from classical, neo-classical and modern ballet. After relocating to Los Angeles, Paradis performed in the commercial dance arena including NBC Must See TV, A&E Promo, and MTV Movie Awards, to name just a few. She has also performed as a Madonna impersonator in China on a national tour. Currently, Nancy is an adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University and Moorpark College.

LA Dance Moves is an art, dance, music, and media company in which Paradis assists and inspires composers and musicians to reach a larger audience by collaborating with dancers and creating new works for film, concert and other media venues. In her June 2020 article for LA Dance Chronicle titled Let’s Move, Let’s Create, Let’s Unite, Paradis spoke to the troubling times that we are all experiencing.

I am a positive person. Been through a lot and really nothing can get me down, at least not for long. The first week of the shutdown was a feeling of shock. By Thursday there was a feeling of gloom and helplessness. I realized if I am feeling this way, everyone is. Friday morning, I woke with a thought and a plan. We have to move!  We have to keep moving and we are going to do this together.”

Despite current challenges presented by the pandemic and the resulting shutdown, Paradis is more determined than ever for LA Dance Moves to “move your soul!” The company’s press release stated “ LA Dance Moves is about collaboration, team work, showcasing talents and giving opportunity. Together, we encompass the beauty of what it means to come together as a community.”

Beyond Limits is thematically driven by the challenges of the present day and how we manage to rise above them. Set to the uniquely different choreographic styles of both artistic director Nancy Paradis and resident choreographer Chasen Greenwood, Beyond Limits is sure to leave audiences hopeful and optimistic.
