Under the artistic direction of flamenco artist and dancer Maria Bermudez, LA Phil will present Flamenco! Fiesta de la Bulería at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 8:00pm (PT). Fiesta de la Buleria, recognized as one of the most important flamenco festivals in all of Spain, will feature 15 stellar artists (singers, musicians, dancers), direct from the birthplace of flamenco, Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain. The program features dancers extraordinaire Joaquin Grilo and Maria del Mar Moreno; powerful singers Jesus Mendez, Remedios Amaya, Pelé De los Reyes (Navajita Plateá), and Antonio Malena; master guitarists, Diego Del Morao, Antonio Rey, and Manuel Parrilla; along with violinist Bernardo Parrilla. Once she decided to become a professional flamenco dancer, Bermudez attended the acclaimed flamenco school, Amor de Dios, in Madrid. She later moved to Seville and from there to Jerez de la Frontera, known as the City of Flamenco, where she has lived for the past 30 years. Her company, Sonidos Gitanos (Gypsy Sounds) has toured worldwide including at in Los Angeles at The Ford and the Hollywood Bowl.
Los Angeles audiences will experience an exciting and unprecedented flamenco performance highlighting an international lineup that will be the first of its kind to perform at Disney Hall. Through this amazing group of dancers, singers and musicians, audiences will indeed experience a genuine flamenco performance is if temporarily transported to Spain.
