LADF online

Oct 2020 4 weekends of online shows
Presented by Brockus Project Producing Los Angeles Dance Festival
and Co-presented by the Luckman Theater

Hi LA Dance Community,

We are fighting our way back after all the cancellations  and giving space for your artistic voice to be heard  in these trying times
LADF 2020 online  happens this OCT

There will be a total of 3 programed show that will run like a theater event with first half and intermission.

Each weekend will run as the same show for 3 full days and nights to allow for international viewing due to time zones.

On the final weekend all 3 programs

We are working to build international connections to strengthen all of our touring for the future. Currently we have the Seoul International Dance Festival in TANK and looking toward France/ Canada / Mexico and beyond for connections

LADF online is free streaming  showcase with donation “asks” to monetize the event.

Each choreographer/ company  will have an interview introduction to their piece ( filmed in BPS or Diavolo) or choreographer sends in the filmed clip). This clip will include information on how to contact the company directly to donate presented on screen for direct donations to each company not the festival (AB5 restriction is avoided this way)

Chosen choreographers have the option to also teach an online master class that we film at BPS

Pieces can be made as a dance film or short as live performance (but not from back of the theater shot please due to how it reads as flat)

Topic for nights are

  • Activism (Social Justice/ Environmental/ Health /Food / Women’s rights/ LGBTQ)
  • Cultural traditions in dance
  • Contemporary styles
  • Ballet styles
  • Commercial styles
  • Youth – next gen artists
  • International and regional festivals/ artists invited

All pieces must be PG no nudity or explicit content (we are running through a public college)

Music must be original due to music broadcast rights

Length 4-15 min per piece  hint do not do long piece screen time is warped attention span)

We are curating a different very broad theme for each night to provide the audience a varied flavor and giving choreographers a like-minded grouping and at the same time opening out the submission beyond the concert contemporary world

LADF / Luckman Theater will handle publicity for the festival and arrange for reviews. And the  collection of all the video media and upload and manage the streaming shows We ask the each group help promote their participation in the event and provide photo, program info, interview clip by the scheduled deadlines.
