In Collaboration with the Orange County based Backhausdance, on Saturday October 16, 2021, at 5:30 pm PT the Sherman Library & Gardens will present Garden Flow, a site-specific work choreographed by Artistic Director and Founder Jennifer Backhaus. The performance of Garden Flow will conclude Backhausdance’s month-long residency at Sherman Gardens. The public is also invited to observe the rehearsals during the weeks leading up to the ticketed performance. Rehearsals will take place at 10:30 am until 1:00 pm on Thursday September 30, Thursdays October 7, & 14 and Friday October 15.

Backhausdance has performed extensively nationwide as well as internationally. Founder Jennifer Backhaus is an award-winning choreographer and Chapman University faculty member. She is the recipient of 10 Lester Horton Awards from the Dance Resource Center of Los Angeles for achievements in choreography, design and performance.

“Backhausdance is thrilled to create and premiere Garden Flow utilizing the landscape of the Sherman Gardens as our inspiration. Garden Flow is a multisensory, personal experience that will infuse the rhythm, presence, colors and beauty of the gardens with the dancers’ fluidity and deeply human and emotional artistic qualities,” said Backhaus.

Guests who choose to watch the rehearsals are also invited to engage with the dancers. Viewing of the rehearsals is free with garden admission – $5.00 per person for non-members, and free for members of Sherman Library & Gardens.
