Now in its 10th season, American Contemporary Ballet (ACB) will return to live performances November 26 – December 24, 20221, with what it describes as “the world’s first immersive staging of The Nutcracker Suite.” As every dance follower knows, there are numerous variations of The Nutcracker ballet beginning with the original choreographed in 1892 by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov to a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Making its debut in 2017 to critical acclaim, ABC’s version titled The Nutcracker Suite, choreographed by Artistic Director Lincoln Jones, was inspired by E.T.A Hoffmann’s mysterious, romantic telling of the Christmas holiday story. Tickets are now on sale.

ACB has recently moved into its new home in Hollywood (926 N. Sycamore Ave., 6th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90038) that offers what has become the company’s signature city vista and is the venue for their performances of The Nutcracker Suite.

“Frosted with the snow that magically envelops the show each season, turning the Land of Sweets into a glittering fantasyland. Audiences will also be surrounded by Tchaikovsky’s majestic score, performed live by some of the city’s finest classical musicians.” – ACB press release

“I thought I understood the importance of live performance, especially classical music and dance, but when it went missing for over a year, I realized it was even more essential than I thought,” says ACB Artistic Director Lincoln Jones. “Coming back to live performance with ‘Nutcracker’ is especially poignant, because it’s something truly joyful that families and friends can experience together.” Guests can meet the Sugar Plum Fairy, all her Land of Sweets subjects, and the musicians at a post-show reception.

Jones is keeping the information as to what audiences can expect at this year’s performance, but he offers that it will be a holiday experience “unlike any other.”  What is known is that guests will be able to meet the musicians and the Sugar Plum Fairy along with all her Land of Sweets subjects at a post-show reception.
