The San Diego based company The PGK Dance Project just announced the launching of its fall 2020 season with an immersive virtual dance performance event INSIDE/OUT on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 7:30 PM (PDT). All tickets are $5.00 and a Zoom viewing link will be sent via email.
Artistic Director Peter G. Kalivas founded this professional dance theater group, The PGK Dance Project, in 1994 with a vision “centered around creating places and spaces for all bodies and all stories”. Originally from New York, Kalivas was an original member of Sean Curran Company and his choreography has been produced, presented, and commissioned nationally and internationally by both Ballet and Contemporary/Modern companies. He has also danced for Judith Jamison, Donald Byrd, Pearl Lang, The Iwanson Dance Company, the Bavarian State Opera Ballet of Munich, Germany, Malashock Dance & Company and The San Diego Ballet, among others. According to their website, PGK DANCE! (The PGK Dance Project) is in residence at La Vie Dance & Culture on the border of Linda Vista and Point Loma, and Since 2009 biannually Kalivas has produced ”San Diego Dances”, which features both local and national professional dance of all styles. “San Diego Dances” takes place in non-traditional spaces such as storefronts, warehouses, hotels, and galleries working with local businesses to help keep dance performance affordable.

“I realize, to many people, that the world seems inside out at the moment,” Kalivas is quoted as saying, “but that is what my company has been determined to do ever since our inception: take dance from ‘inside out’ to the people where it belongs, in ways that make it more affordable and easier to access.” He went on to say that INSIDE/OUT will feature spaces and places that are familiar to the audience and that it will include moments where everyone can dance together.
The PGK Dance Project’s INSIDE/OUT Virtual Dance Performance Event will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 7:30 PM on Zoom. Tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased HERE.
The PGK Dance Project fall 2020 season continues with a live performance of Ollin on Friday, October 23, at 7:30 PM at The Palm Springs International Dance Festival outdoors. The company’s PERSPECTIVES will be presented as a film installation from November 5 -8, 2020 in the front façade windows of ArtProduce in North Park San Diego. This will be in partnership with MEDIA ARTS San Diego film production. PGK Dance Project will then present PERSPECTIVES and Ollin on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 3:30 PM, as part of Mission Federal Credit Union’s ARTWALK Little Italy.
