Los Angeles Choreographers & Dancers will present “HEART”  performed by Louise Reichlin & Dancers July 12-14, 2024 at The Ivy Substation located on Venice Blvd. in Culver City. The program will consist of four works, Metro Transformation, all six of her Urban and Tribal Dances, Reboot! Reboot!, and the jubilant Gotta Get Up. Tickets are $25 and are on sale now.

Louise Reichlin & Dancers was founded in 1979 making it one of Los Angeles’ longest running dance companies. Reichlin’s work has been performed both nationally and internationally, including China, Taipei, Mexico, Sweden and Guatemala. Critics have reviewed Reichlin’s work as “wildly theatrical & fun” and “wonderfully spirited with a zest for life” offering both family and dance/theatre programing. Keeping up with what’s current, the company now utilizes multimedia works as well as narrated dance.

On the Program

METRO TRANSFORMATION was a collaboration between Director Louise Reichlin, Jill Elaine Collins, and McKnnly Moren utilizing the Lindy, Tango, Charleston, N Indian Bangra Folk Dance, and New York Salsa dance styles.

URBAN AND TRIBAL DANCES  features six dances that Reichlin choreographed between 1990 and 1992. The dances were revived in 2020 but the performance was canceled due to the pandemic. The original complete work is about people of present, past, or slightly future time in an urban setting. URBAN AND TRIBAL DANCES opens with Batida, a Latin American dance that veers between total abandon and 19th century politeness and ends with Together, with added current events media that reflects the split our country is going through and reveal an ever-present communal or tribal theme that lies below the surface.

Also on the program are Reichlin’s Gotta Get Up and REBOOT! REBOOT!
