We are in the middle of the Merce Cunningham Centennial year in celebration of the Legendary American modern dance choreographer Merce Cunningham born on April 16, 1919 in Centralia, WA. and died in New York City on July 26, 2009. After dancing with the Martha Graham Dance Company for several years, Cunningham began working with American composer John Cage in the early 1940s. At Black Mountain College in 1952 the two of them presented the first performance of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company which sadly disband two years after Cunningham death.
