Dancer, choreographer and Artistic Director of Louise Reichlin & Dancers/Los Angeles Choreographers & Dancers, Louise Reichlin has just announced an encore presentation of the San Pedro Festival of the Arts (formerly the SP TriArt Festival) to take place online November 21 through December 6, 2020. Reichlin, who is also the Festival Executive Producer and Dance Director, has curated 19 diverse dances from 17 companies and studio which include Akomi Dance, Alán L. Pérez, Barkin/Selissen Project, Brittany Woo, Cathartic Art, Degas Dance Studio, Emergence Dance Company, Emergent Dance Company, Jose Costas Contempo Ballet, Kairos, Louise Reichlin & Dancers/LA Choreographers & Dancers, Mixed eMotion Theatrix, Pranamya Suri, Re:borN Dance Interactive, San Pedro City Ballet, Tonia Shimin, WestMet Classical Training + scenes of San Pedro.

There are two programs and each work will include a brief introduction by the Artist who created it, or an interview with Reichlin, or a short verbal introduction by a third person. Each program has its own personality; one being created before the pandemic and the other mostly created during the pandemic. Reichlin states that Program One (original date of perform 9/19/20) tends to be the more family friendly of the two, with Program Two (originally premiered on 9/20/20)including more intense subject matters, but each, she says, include a diverse range of subjects.

This was the 14th year for the San Pedro Festival of the Arts and has drawn thousands of spectators and audience members throughout its history. Its popularity has caused it to relocate several times including the San Pedro Ports O’Call Village, the Port of Los Angles, the USS Iowa in the Port of Los Angeles, and finally ending up at the Anderson Memorial Center. Sadly, in 2020, the Covid pandemic caused the cancelation of the festival but Reichlin refused to let that happen to the dance performances and moved the two programs online.

The festival is supported in part by a grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles. Funds also come from Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and Councilman Joe Buscaino. LA C&D is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, but many of our usual contributors for In-Kind necessities such as a stage, dance flooring, venues for previews, and music set up are unable to be accepted this year. Reichlin continues to thank her colleagues and supporters by presenting their names on the festival website.
