For the past two months, choreographers and dancers have been taking part in what curator Deborah Brockus calls Choreographer + Dancer MATCH, a choreographic residency which took place at Brockus Project Studios in East Los Angeles. “This residency matches creators and dancers and culminates in produced performance of new original works in the contemporary modern genre.”
Twelve choreographers were selected, and 40 dancers auditioned who were then assigned to choreographers. Each choreographer set out to create a new work which will premiere on 5 showcases spread over 3 weekends.
In addition to the MATCH works, on June 21 & 22 BrockusRED and guest are performing a new work by dancer, choreographer and teacher, Sean Greene is reconstructing a piece on BrockusRED dance company. Greene toured the world with Bella Lewitzky Dance Company.
